Boavista, one of Portugal's most historic football clubs and the only team outside the 'Big Three' to win the Primeira Liga in the last 80 years (2001), has been forced to shut down completely after failing to survive insolvency proceedings. Founded in 1903, the club must hand over the keys and vacate its iconic 28,000-capacity stadium by July 31, leaving its legendary home abandoned. The club also made a memorable run to the 2003 UEFA Cup semi-finals. Years of spiraling financial misery led to total liquidation, marking the end of a 123-year legacy.
