Magdeburg won their friendly against regional league side FSV Schöningen convincingly 4:0 (3:0). The goals were scored by Manthey, Baars, and Mergner, plus an own goal by Weigel.
Making his first appearance in the FCM jersey was new signing Emmanuel Iyoha (28). The former Düsseldorf player got his chance in the second half.
Iyoha's First Impression
"It was important for me to get to know the guys on the pitch, even though I already know many of them from our many games against each other in recent years. It felt like my third day of training. It was already a lot of fun."
Iyoha was the ninth and so far last new signing for FCM. Despite a short adjustment period, he remains enthusiastic about his new team:
"It's always exciting to join a new team. The guys and the coaching staff are making sure to integrate me as quickly as possible. Now it's time to look for an apartment, and I'm looking forward to that."
What the New Signing Thinks About the FCM System
Sportingly, Iyoha hopes to quickly find his place in the FCM system. He was brought in as reinforcement for the right wing position, but the offensive player and former youth international does not want to be limited to that:
"The club's style of play suits my flexibility. I want to drive the game forward and provide assists from any position."
Iyoha intends to use the last three weeks of preparation to be perfectly ready for the start of the season:
"It's about fine-tuning the processes, getting freshness through runs, and recharging with plenty of energy. And above all, we need self-confidence."
