SportsReal Betis has finalized the loan signing of goalkeeper Diego Conde from Villarreal for the 2026-27 season, with a non-mandatory purchase option set at approximately 3.5 million euros. The move was prompted by Pau López's request to leave Betis for Andorra. Conde, who came through Atlético Madrid's youth system and previously played for Getafe and Leganés, chose Betis over offers from Deportivo de La Coruña and Sevilla. He will compete with Álvaro Valles for the starting role, with youth product Manu González as third goalkeeper. The deal provides Betis financial flexibility, as they incur no immediate transfer fee and generate salary savings from López's departure, aiding other planned operations. Conde is expected in Seville soon to undergo medical tests and join preseason training under manager Manuel Pellegrini.
