Spanish national team players Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro trained fully with the group on July 17, 2026, two days before the World Cup final. Both had minor injuries after the semi-final against France—a left thigh knock for Yamal and a strain for Porro—but medical staff confirmed no serious issues. Porro, who was named MVP of the semi-final, and Yamal, who also performed well, are expected to be ready for the final. The team held a closed-door training session in New York, with coach Luis de la Fuente projecting confidence. Midfielder Rodri described the upcoming match as 'the day of our lives.' The article, published by AS Barcelona, provides reassurance to fans about the availability of two key players.

Yesterday's image showed Pedro Porro and Lamine Yamal apart — seated on the training mat, with the Barcelona player's bandage sparking alarms that were quickly silenced by the RFEF. There was no danger for either player. Both would be ready for the final, and both will be.
A sigh, 48 hours before a World Cup final, is a blizzard. But in the case of Porro and Lamine, it is an anecdote. Today, they are with the group. Spain breathes.
Injury Concerns
Both players finished the match against France with discomfort:
- Pedro Porro — Suffered a strain. The Extremaduran asked to be substituted after being named hero and MVP of the match.
- Lamine Yamal — Took a knock to the left thigh, causing him to limp after the match. However, he showed no signs of discomfort later in the mixed zone or upon arrival at the hotel.
The discomfort is present — for both players and many of their teammates — as war wounds from the longest World Cup in history. But it will not prevent any of them from being ready for the battle.
Relief and Confidence
There was immense relief, though never genuine fear for their participation — both because of what an injury means at this stage and because of who these players are.
- Lamine Yamal is still searching for his great day, though his performance against France was very strong.
- Pedro Porro had an enormous, great performance. After starting as a replacement for Llorente, he has become irreplaceable through rotation.
Both took part in the penultimate training session before D-Day. The session was behind closed doors, but from within comes a message of calm and confidence — without overconfidence. That is what coach De la Fuente transmits and what his players project.
Media Availability
Before the rehearsal, in the enabled session, one by one the protagonists appeared to sit with the media at the facilities lent to both Spain and Argentina by New York Red Bull. From there, Rodri sent a message to AS: "It's the day of our lives." For them, for everyone.
