Como 1907 president Mirwan Suwarso has confirmed that the club has received a £10 million offer for striker Iván Azón, just 18 months after signing him for £2 million from Real Zaragoza.
"We bought Iván Azón for two million and now we already have an offer of 10 for him," Suwarso said this Friday.
The proposed move would see Azón return to the Championship, where Southampton remain after being expelled from the Premier League promotion phase. The club admitted to "multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorized filming of other clubs' training sessions."
Negotiations Underway
The two clubs are in the early stages of negotiations for the 23-year-old striker, who has received several other offers — including loan proposals from Spain. While Azón would prefer to play in La Liga, and clubs are monitoring that option, the strongest current bid comes from Southampton.
Sources indicate that although talks remain in the initial phase, the impression from both the player's side and the two clubs is that a deal could be reached.
Previous Transfer Details
When Azón moved from Zaragoza to Como in January 2025, the deal included an additional €500,000 in performance-related objectives if he played 50 matches. He did not fulfill that condition, as he never made an official debut for the Italian club, having arrived with a significant muscle injury.
During the final stretch of the 2024–25 season, Cesc Fàbregas did not give him minutes despite his availability.
Loan Spell at Ipswich Town
Azón was subsequently loaned to Ipswich Town, where he helped the club achieve promotion from the Championship to the Premier League. He contributed 5 goals and 4 assists in 38 matches during the English second division campaign.
However, Ipswich decided not to exercise their voluntary purchase option of £15 million, and Azón returned to Como — a club that has since qualified for the Champions League but where he has no place under Fàbregas.
Contract and Background
Azón signed with Como until 2029, but has yet to make an official competitive appearance for the club. He did feature in several friendlies last summer, scoring against Al Ahli and Lille, but failed to convince Cesc and was loaned out.
A product of Zaragoza's academy, Azón began his youth career at Marianistas, went through Amistad, and joined the Ciudad Deportiva in his second year in the alevín category. He spent one season on loan at El Olivar during his youth development.
Before leaving Zaragoza in January 2025, he made 150 official appearances and scored 27 goals for the club.
