US Space Force identifies airman killed in Vandenberg accident

The U.S. Space Force has identified Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna, 23, as the service member killed in an accident at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, on Thursday morning. Eneluna was operating heavy machinery as part of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron's Pavements and Equipment Flight when the equipment rolled off an embankment around 11:30 a.m. No one else was injured. The Santa Barbara County Coroner's Office has not yet determined the exact cause of death, and the accident remains under investigation. Eneluna, who lived in both the Philippines and Missouri, joined the military in March 2024 and was assigned to Vandenberg later that year. Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30, and Lt. Col. Seth Poulsen, the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron commander, offered condolences and praised Eneluna's character and dedication. The 30th Civil Engineer Squadron, known as the 'Dirt Boyz,' maintains infrastructure at the base, a major U.S. space launch site.
