Tunisia has appointed Moein Chaâbani as the new head coach of its national football team, following a chaotic 2026 World Cup campaign. The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) had previously attempted a short-term gamble with Hervé Renard, who coached only the last two matches before leaving. After months of speculation, Chaâbani, a Tunisian coach who spent two and a half successful years at Moroccan club RS Berkane, was chosen. RS Berkane confirmed his departure in a statement, noting that the FTF made an official request and that this was the third approach after two previous attempts. The Moroccan club expressed understanding due to the patriotic significance of the role, highlighting fraternal relations between Morocco and Tunisia. Chaâbani was under contract with RS Berkane until June 2027.

Chaâbani, who has spent the past two and a half years at Moroccan club RS Berkane, will take over the reins after the federation's previous short-term gamble with Hervé Renard. Renard had been brought in for just two matches before departing, sparking weeks of speculation over his successor.
RS Berkane Confirms Departure
RS Berkane announced Chaâbani's departure in a statement released Thursday. The club confirmed that the Tunisian Federation made an official request to appoint Chaâbani, who was under contract with the Moroccan side until June 2027.
