SportsAston Villa left-back Lucas Digne, 32, is set to make a surprise return to Paris Saint-Germain after 11 years, signing a three-year contract. The transfer, revealed by Daily Mail, originated about four weeks ago. PSG's sporting director Luis Campos initially sought a younger backup for Nuno Mendes but pivoted to Digne due to his experience, French nationality, low cost (release clause under €10 million), and familiarity with coach Luis Enrique, who coached Digne at Barcelona in 2016-2017. Digne, a 62-cap France international, sees this as 'closing the loop' and aims to mentor Nuno Mendes. He will reunite with French teammates like Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Ousmane Dembélé. The deal was kept secret from teammates until Monday morning, leading to teasing. Digne's son, a PSG fan, may soon see his father play for his favorite club.
