Real Zaragoza held its first day of preseason medical tests at Quirónsalud Hospital in Zaragoza, with most players undergoing blood analyses and stress tests. On Friday, up to 22 players, including Deportivo Aragón's Diego Monzón and goalkeeper Marcos Manolache, will perform physical and anthropometric tests at the Ciudad Deportiva under fitness coaches Miki Lampre and Pablo Quílez. Coach Ibai Gómez, already working at the facility, will attend. Notable absentees are Peter Ademo, finalizing bureaucratic procedures, and Samed Bazdar, on extended vacation after World Cup qualifiers with Bosnia-Herzegovina; both have club permission. New signings Sem Westerveld, Emil Hansson, and Edu Espiau completed stress tests earlier. Captain Francho Serrano, whose contract extension is pending, and several other players participated. The club has eight friendlies scheduled before their season opener against Nástic on August 30. Departures for Bazdar and Adrián Liso are still being negotiated.
Source report
Most Real Zaragoza players have undergone medical tests and blood analyses at the Quirónsalud Hospital in Zaragoza, ahead of physical and anthropometric tests scheduled for this Friday at the Ciudad Deportiva.
Up to 22 players, including Deportivo Aragón players Diego Monzón and goalkeeper Marcos Manolache, will participate in the tests under the supervision of fitness coaches Miki Lampre and Pablo Quílez, the latter also responsible for data management.
The tests will not include Peter Ademo and Samed Bazdar, who have the club's permission for different reasons. Coach Ibai Gómez, who has already been working at the Ciudad Deportiva for several days, will be present at the examinations.
Medical Tests at Hospital
Francho Serrano — captain, with his continuity agreement advanced but still pending — along with Tachi, Pau Sans, Hugo Pinilla, Marcos Cuenca, Lucas Terrer, Yussif Saidu, Adrián Liso (pending the closure of his departure after a loan spell at Getafe in the top flight), Hugo Barrachina, Diego Monzón, Hugo Carrillo, and Marcos Manolache first underwent analyses and then, divided into groups, completed stress tests at the hospital.
Latest Signings
Sem Westerveld, Emil Hansson, and Edu Espiau — the three latest signings — completed stress tests on Wednesday and went to the hospital yesterday for analyses.
Ander Herrera, who experienced his presentation at the Ibercaja Stadium, along with Sergio Escudero, Raúl Pereira, Jaume Jardí, Rubén Díez, Jokin Gabilondo, and Anartz Peña — the rest of the team's signings except for Ademo — did not attend the hospital this Thursday, having already completed those tests. They will go directly to the Ciudad Deportiva for physical and anthropometric tests.
Absent Players
The only two Real Zaragoza players absent are:
- Peter Ademo (Nigeria) — finalizing bureaucratic procedures before his arrival
- Samed Bazdar — enjoying extra days of vacation after participating in the 2026 World Cup with Bosnia-Herzegovina; he will rejoin the group on July 23
In Bazdar's case, like Liso's, a departure is also pending. Zaragoza has already rejected two offers for the Bosnian striker, while several clubs have shown interest in Liso but without meeting Zaragoza's demands for a transfer. A loan appears as the most feasible route for Liso. It remains to be seen whether Bazdar will return on the 23rd or his departure will be closed before then, while Liso's situation is evolving more slowly.
Preseason Schedule
Zaragoza will begin preseason work under Ibai Gómez with a single session on Monday (9:45 AM). Next week, there will be three days of double sessions before a trial match against Aragón on the 24th. On Sunday the 26th, the team will head to Boltaña for a week-long training camp until August 1.
Eight friendlies are scheduled in this preparation:
- Utebo
- Barbastro
- Andorra
- Sanse (Carlos Lapetra Trophy)
- Logroñés
- Villarreal
- Bilbao Athletic
- Numancia
The season debut is against Nástic in Tarragona on the weekend of August 30.
