SportsBournemouth have entered negotiations with Benfica to sign 22-year-old Portugal defender Antonio Silva as a replacement for Marcos Senesi, who left on a free transfer to join Tottenham Hotspur. Silva, regarded as one of Europe's most promising young centre-backs, has been a regular for Benfica since 2022 and has 20 international caps. However, Benfica have paused further progression in talks as they focus on Europa League qualifying matches against St Gallen on July 23 and July 30. Silva would become Bournemouth's second summer signing after striker Alvaro Rodriguez. The club, under new manager Marco Rose, aims for stability after selling over £200m worth of players last year and is resisting offers for key players Alex Scott, Rayan, and Junior Kroupi.
