OpenAI launches first hardware product, Codex Micro keyboard, at $230

OpenAI has released its first hardware product, the Codex Micro, a mini keyboard designed for power users of its AI coding tool, Codex. Priced at $230, the device was engineered by Canadian-Italian accessories maker Work Louder. It features six light-up agent keys that display status and allow multi-agent switching, a joystick for navigation, a dial for adjusting reasoning levels, customizable shortcut keys, and a voice recorder for audio prompts. The keyboard comes in clicky and silent mechanical switch options. The launch signals OpenAI's deepening commitment to AI coding, as Codex and ChatGPT Work have reached 8 million active users. The company recently merged Codex into the ChatGPT desktop app and continues to invest in the product through advertising and free usage perks. This device is separate from OpenAI's rumored hardware collaboration with Jony Ive, which is expected later this year.
