Intel has announced a €5 billion ($5.7 billion) capital investment at its Irish campus in Leixlip, outside Dublin, to expand manufacturing output in Europe and meet growing global demand for AI and high-performance computing. The investment, which began earlier this year, will upgrade existing fabrication facilities and install leading-edge equipment to produce Intel Xeon 6 processors and next-generation Xeon chips built on the Intel 3 manufacturing process. Intel, a key multinational in Ireland's foreign-investment-focused economy, has invested €30 billion in the country since 1989, with over half spent between 2019 and 2023 to double capacity. The company employs 4,900 people in Ireland. Intel Foundry executive vice president Naga Chandrasekaran stated the move ensures Ireland remains at the forefront of advanced manufacturing ecosystems and strengthens the region's role in the global technology landscape.

LEIXLIP, Ireland, July 13 (Reuters) — Intel has commenced a €5 billion ($5.7 billion) capital investment at its Irish campus to expand manufacturing output in Europe and meet rising global demand for AI and high-performance computing, the U.S. chipmaker announced on Monday.
The investment aims to maximize capacity at Intel’s European manufacturing base in Leixlip, outside Dublin. Key objectives include:

Intel is one of the key multinationals in Ireland’s foreign investment-focused economy. The company has already invested €30 billion in the country since 1989, with more than half of that amount spent between 2019 and 2023 to double capacity at the plant for producing the company’s most advanced process technologies.
The chipmaker, which employs 4,900 people in Ireland, stated that its latest capital expenditure program at the Leixlip campus began earlier this year.
The investment will upgrade existing fabrication facilities and install leading-edge manufacturing equipment to produce Intel Xeon 6 processors and next-generation Intel Xeon chips built on the group’s Intel 3 manufacturing process.
“We are not just increasing output of critical products, we are ensuring Ireland remains at the forefront of the world’s most advanced manufacturing ecosystems, while strengthening the region’s role in the global technology landscape,” said Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president of Intel Foundry, in a statement.
