AC Milan has officially announced the signing of Spanish defender Mario Gila from Lazio, with Real Madrid entitled to 50% of the fixed transfer revenue due to a 2022 agreement. The transfer fee totals 28 million euros, including 25 million fixed and 2 million in bonuses, of which approximately 10 million will go to Real Madrid. Gila signed a five-year contract until June 2031 worth 4.5 million euros per season. The player underwent medical examinations at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan and will join the team's training camp on July 13. Milan beat competition from Napoli and Atalanta for the signing, which was approved by coach Ruben Amorim. Gila had been in the club's plans since the tenure of former coach Massimiliano Allegri.

AC Milan has completed its second signing of the summer for head coach Ruben Amorim, following the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos. The club has officially announced the acquisition of defender Mario Gila.
Gila had already been on Milan's radar during Massimiliano Allegri's tenure, when Igli Tare served as sporting director. The current coach's approval has simply allowed the project to move forward.
Contract and Transfer Details
Reaching a personal agreement with the player proved straightforward, with Milan beating off competition from Napoli and Atalanta from the very first contact:
- Contract length: Five years (until June 2031)
- Annual salary: €4.5 million per season
Negotiations with Lazio were more complex due to the club's demands. Notably, Lazio will be required to pay 50% of the fixed transfer fee to Real Madrid, as stipulated in the agreement between the two clubs when Gila arrived in Serie A in 2022.
After Milan's initial offer of €25 million fixed plus €2 million in bonuses was rejected, Lazio president Claudio Lotito accepted an improved proposal, closing the deal at a total of €28 million. Of this amount, approximately €10 million will go to Real Madrid.
Medical and Next Steps
The defender arrived in Milan on Thursday evening, after visiting Lazio's sports center in Formello to say goodbye to staff and teammates. On Friday morning, Gila underwent medical examinations at the La Madonnina clinic before signing his new contract.
He is expected to join the team's training camp at Milanello on July 13, marking the start of the new sporting season.
