Milan has completed its second signing of the summer for coach Ruben Amorim, following the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos. The club has officially announced the acquisition of defender Mario Gila.
The Spanish center-back had already been on Milan's radar during Massimiliano Allegri's tenure as head coach and Igli Tare's time as sporting director. Amorim's approval allowed the club to move forward with a project already in motion.
Contract and Transfer Details
- Contract length: Five years, until June 2031
- Salary: €4.5 million per season
- Transfer fee: €28 million total (€25 million fixed plus €2 million in bonuses)
Negotiations with Lazio proved more complex than reaching an agreement with the player, who accepted terms quickly and fended off interest from Napoli and Atalanta. Lazio will be required to pay 50% of the fixed portion of the transfer fee to Real Madrid, as stipulated in the agreement between the two clubs when Gila first moved to Serie A in 2022.
