At least twelve people have died in a forest fire in southern Spain. The emergency services of the Andalusia region announced the news on the platform X overnight. According to reports, some of the victims were found in their vehicles.
The fire broke out in the afternoon in the municipality of Los Gallardos, in the province of Almería, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Málaga, as reported by the regional government.
Regional Health Minister Antonio Sanz described the event as an "unprecedented tragedy," calling it the forest fire "with the most severe consequences to date" in Andalusia. "The pain is immeasurable. Andalusia mourns, and our hearts are with Almería and all those affected," he said.
