Atletico Madrid offers €40m for Sporting's Hjulmand, close to agreement

Medina, Atletico Madrid has submitted a total offer of €40 million for Sporting CP midfielder Yurmann, comprising a fixed fee of €35 million plus €5 million in variables. Sporting CP is pushing to increase the fixed portion, but both sides are nearing an agreement.

Deal Nearing Completion

Atletico Madrid is accelerating the signing process, with the clear goal of having Yurmann report for duty on Monday, July 13th — the key start of the team's preseason preparations — to be at the disposal of manager Diego Simeone. The final details of the comprehensive agreement are still being ironed out. The player, currently still under contract with Sporting CP, is expected to sign a five-season deal.

Agent in Madrid

Yurmann's agent, the head of the BTAM agency, has already arrived in Madrid. This Danish agency represents a number of Danish players. In the coming days, they will meet with Mateu Alemany to finalize the transfer, making Yurmann a new signing for Atletico — following in the footsteps of the already announced Grimaldo and Lee Kang-in.

Addressing a Key Need

Atletico Madrid has been searching for a 'number 5' (defensive midfielder) in recent transfer windows, and this issue now appears resolved with Yurmann's signing. Due to Cardoso and Barrios suffering from physical issues for most of last season, this position was a key area needing reinforcement, and Yurmann has ultimately become the chosen candidate.
