According to Italian Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan is on the verge of signing Lazio center-back Mario Gila. The Rossoneri have reached a personal agreement with the player on a five-year contract worth €5 million net per year. Milan is preparing to finalize the transfer with Lazio between Monday and Tuesday, meeting the asking price of €30 million, composed of €25 million fixed and €5 million in performance-related bonuses. Napoli, who had also been pursuing Gila, was overtaken because their offered salary was slightly lower and they needed to complete player departures first. A Thursday raid proved successful, with the Rossoneri now having reached an agreement with both the player and his agent. The proposed contract is a five-year deal with a net annual salary of €5 million.
Between Monday and Tuesday, Milan is preparing to finalize the agreement with Lazio. The club is already aware of the asking price:
- Total fee: €30 million
- Fixed fee: €25 million

Napoli has been completely overtaken in the race, as their offered salary was slightly lower. Furthermore, since no agreement was ever reached between the clubs, Napoli must first complete some player departures. AC Milan then entered the competition and has already seized the initiative.
