50 Years of Galerie Nordenhake: What Color Can Do and What Painting Actually Is
Galerie Nordenhake celebrates its 50th anniversary with a large group exhibition spanning its three locations in Stockholm, Berlin, and Mexico City. The Berlin gallery is also marking a new chapter by relocating from Kreuzberg to Charlottenburg after nearly 20 years on Lindenstraße. Founded in 1976 by Claes Nordenhake in Malmö, Sweden, the gallery expanded to Stockholm in the mid-1980s, Berlin in 2000, and Mexico City in 2017. The exhibition features works connected to the gallery's history, including pieces by Sofia Hultén, Spencer Finch, Joseph Marioni, and Marcia Hafif, exploring themes of color, painting, and creative destruction. The gallery was the first to move into its Kreuzberg building in 2007, which once housed a department store and Lufthansa headquarters, and helped establish a gallery hub there. The exhibition runs until August 29.
