World is 'extremely turbulent', Jaishankar calls for deeper India-ASEAN cooperation
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking at the ASEAN-India Post-Ministerial Conference in Manila on July 22, 2026, described the global situation as 'extremely turbulent' and emphasized that no single nation or grouping can address challenges alone. He called for deeper India-ASEAN cooperation across trade, investment, mobility, technology, digital and AI, green sustainability, and connectivity. Jaishankar highlighted stress on supply chains, energy, food, and health security, and noted the importance of maritime trade and international law, coinciding with the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026. He urged both sides to navigate the transition together, representing 2 billion people, to ensure a safe and steady future.
