World Cup demand pushes private jet charter prices up 30%

The price of chartering private jets between US cities has surged by up to 30% due to exceptionally strong demand during the World Cup, which concludes in New Jersey. Corporate groups, wealthy football fans, and supporter syndicates are increasingly using private charters to navigate the geographically dispersed tournament. Popular routes include Miami to Atlanta and Atlanta to New York. Atlas Jet Charter co-founder Connor Millar reports that business aviation activity has risen significantly, with demand on key routes reaching up to three times normal levels during the knockout stages. The surge is driven by limited aircraft availability, repositioning costs, airport slot restrictions, and event-related fees. The heightened demand has also affected non-World Cup private jet charters, reducing aircraft availability and increasing prices across the US. Airports are charging higher fees, and operators are repositioning aircraft to major tournament hubs, leaving fewer planes for routine charter requests elsewhere.
