World Bank estimates quakes cost Venezuela US$20 billion in damage

The World Bank estimates that twin earthquakes which struck Venezuela in June 2026 caused approximately US$19.6 billion in physical damage. The earthquakes affected more than 900 schools across nine states and 38 hospitals. Almost half of the total costs stem from damage to residential buildings. The report was published by The Business Times Singapore on July 23, 2026, citing a World Bank assessment.
