Wes Streeting led Labour ministers in broadcast rounds under Starmer
LabourList analysis reveals that former Health Secretary Wes Streeting performed the most broadcast rounds (30) of any minister in Keir Starmer's government since July 2024, followed closely by Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson (28) and Pat McFadden (26). Among the great offices of state, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper led with 24 appearances, while Chancellor Rachel Reeves did 15, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood did 9, and Prime Minister Starmer himself did 7. By department, the Home Office dominated with 65 ministerial broadcast appearances, followed by the Cabinet Office (63) and the Department for Education (59). The analysis, based on Politico's daily round-ups and BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, highlights the government's communication priorities. LabourList editor Emma Burnell noted Streeting was relied upon as one of Labour's best communicators, and speculated on whether new Prime Minister Andy Burnham will diversify the government's broadcast voices.
