Wanted Drug Lord Prabhdeep Singh Extradited to India from Azerbaijan

India has successfully extradited Prabhdeep Singh, a high-profile fugitive and alleged drug lord, from Azerbaijan to New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced the operation's success on May 13, 2026, marking a significant breakthrough in a major international narcotics investigation. Singh, who was subject to an Interpol Red Notice, was escorted back by a specialized three-member team from the Delhi Police. This repatriation was the result of coordinated multi-agency efforts involving the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Delhi Police, utilizing the BHARATPOL network for logistics. Singh is identified as the primary organizer of a large-scale narcotics syndicate previously targeted by the New Delhi Special Cell under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Although substantial drugs were recovered and co-conspirators arrested earlier, Singh had remained at large until his recent capture in Baku. Upon arrival in India, he was taken into custody to face further legal proceedings. Officials highlighted this event as part of a growing trend of successful overseas captures, with over 160 wanted criminals returned to India in recent years due to strengthened international law enforcement cooperation.
