Uzbekistan Unveils Domestically Designed Armored Vehicles at New KRANTAS Factory

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Nurafshon Makhsus Tekhnika plant in Nurafshan on July 22, 2026, showcasing the country's growing domestic arms industry. The KRANTAS-brand facility, built with a $50 million investment, unveiled 6x6 and 8x8 armored personnel carriers, a 155mm To'fon self-propelled howitzer, and a modernized T-64 tank with a South Korean Doosan engine. The plant employs over 300 specialists and uses machinery from the US, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Russia, China, and Turkey. Co-founder Akmal Karimov emphasized that the vehicles were designed from scratch by Uzbek engineers, not licensed from foreign brands. The armored carriers have completed state trials and are preparing for serial production.
