Uzbekistan Unveils Domestically Designed Armored Vehicles at New Factory
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Nurafshon Makhsus Tekhnika plant on July 22, 2026, showcasing the country's growing domestic arms industry. The KRANTAS-brand facility, built with a $50 million investment, unveiled 6x6 and 8x8 armored personnel carriers, a 155mm To'fon self-propelled howitzer, and a modernized T-64 tank. The T-64 upgrade replaces its original Soviet engine with a South Korean Doosan DP222LC engine. The company claims the vehicles are designed from scratch by Uzbek engineers, not licensed from foreign firms. The plant has produced over 300 vehicle bodies and supplied $21 million in equipment last year.
