USA Gymnastics Expects No Petitions, Casting Doubt on Katelyn Ohashi's 2026 Elite Season
USA Gymnastics confirmed it has received no petitions from athletes in women's elite divisions ahead of the U.S. Championships in August, casting significant doubt on whether viral star Katelyn Ohashi will continue her 2026 elite season. Ohashi, 29, fell short of the required 26.800 qualifying score by nearly four-tenths at the U.S. Classic in Hartford. While the petition window remains open with no deadline, the federation stated it is not anticipating any petitions. Ohashi, a former elite prodigy and two-time NCAA champion, scored 13.200 on each of her two events and expressed pride in her performance. She is targeting the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and plans to upgrade difficulty levels next year. The U.S. Championships will determine national champions and the U.S. National Team, with the World Team Selection Event in late September leading to the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam.
