University of Nicosia Participates in Second 'Exercise is Medicine® Cyprus' Initiative
The University of Nicosia (UNIC), an official partner of the global "Exercise is Medicine®" program, actively participated in the second local initiative of "Exercise is Medicine® Cyprus." This global effort promotes physical exercise as a vital tool for preventing and managing chronic diseases within healthcare systems. As part of this collaboration, UNIC organized "Exercise is Medicine On Campus Week" from May 4 to 9, 2026. The event aimed to raise awareness among students and the public about the health benefits of regular physical activity. Activities included educational presentations for Sport Science and Medical students on the role of exercise in disease management, the display of informational posters with World Health Organization recommendations, and practical physical activities coordinated with the UNIC Run Club. Led by professors from the Schools of Life and Health Sciences and Medicine, along with student volunteers, the initiative seeks to integrate scientific education and lifelong exercise culture into public health strategies. The program underscores the university's commitment to improving community quality of life through evidence-based health promotion and interdisciplinary collaboration between medical and sports science disciplines.
