Uganda Discharges Last Ebola Patient; DR Congo Outbreak Spirals
Uganda discharged its last Ebola patient on July 16, 2026, starting a 42-day countdown to be declared Ebola-free by the WHO. Health Minister Chris Baryomunsi confirmed that all 20 cases in Uganda were imported from neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, with only two deaths. In contrast, the DR Congo outbreak is worsening, with over 2,000 confirmed cases and more than 700 deaths.
