UEFA Champions League Qualifier: Kairat Almaty Loses 0-1 Away to Ten-Man Omonia Nicosia
In the first leg of the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, Kairat Almaty suffered a 0-1 away defeat to Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia. Omonia took an early lead in the 13th minute through a goal by Andreou. However, in the 34th minute, Omonia's player Nego, who recently joined after his contract with Le Havre expired, was sent off for a violent foul, reducing his team to ten men. Despite the numerical advantage for the remainder of the match, Kairat failed to capitalize on the opportunity and could not equalize. The second leg is scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan next week, giving Kairat a chance to overturn the deficit at home.
