Two Youths Arrested for Attempting to Topple Cyclists at Giro d'Italia

Two young men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested by Italian police for attempting to push cyclists off their bikes during the Giro d'Italia. The incident occurred in San Vitaliano, within the province of Naples, as the race caravan passed through the area. According to reports, the individuals invaded the road with the clear intention of causing the riders to fall. Although some participants were momentarily unbalanced, no cyclists fell, and the attempt was ultimately unsuccessful. One of the suspects reportedly had a prior criminal record for robbery. Law enforcement agents from the Nola police station detained them on the spot and reported them for endangering public safety during a sporting event. Footage of the dangerous gesture was captured on camera, showing the youths trying to interfere with the race amidst surprised spectators. Authorities are expected to impose significant sanctions, including a proposed Daspo (ban from sporting events), for both individuals.
