Tristan Thompson Invested in Anthropic Early and Co-Founded AI Sports Startup TracyAI
Former NBA player Tristan Thompson revealed that he made an early investment in AI safety company Anthropic after attending league dinners with Silicon Valley executives while playing for the Golden State Warriors. Impressed by the transparency and potential of the technology, Thompson utilized a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to pool resources with friends, allowing them to write a larger check. Anthropic, the developer of Claude, is currently valued at approximately $900 billion. Beyond this investment, Thompson has entered the AI sector as a co-founder and chief content officer of TracyAI. This new venture is an AI-powered sports analytics agent designed to provide real-time statistics and insights to athletes and fans through voice and text interactions. Thompson argues that while AI has permeated many industries, it has yet to fully transform sports engagement and training. TracyAI aims to fill this gap by curating basketball data and media coverage into immediate, actionable responses, offering capabilities that traditional analytics staff cannot match due to time constraints.
