Tigre Fan Bus Shot at After Copa Sudamericana Match in Uruguay
On Tuesday evening local time, a bus carrying fans of Argentine Primera División club Tigre was shot at while returning from an away match against Uruguayan club Nacional in Montevideo. The fans had just witnessed their team's 3-0 victory in a Copa Sudamericana knockout stage playoff. The bus was hit by ten bullets, shattering windows and leaving bloodstains on the floor. One fan was shot in the arm and taken to hospital for treatment. Tigre club president Martin Suarez visited the injured fan. The club issued a statement strongly condemning the 'extremely serious violent incident' and confirmed that the fan group arrived safely in Buenos Aires early the next morning. The club reported that the injured fan's condition stabilized and he was later returned to Buenos Aires. About 2,000 Tigre fans had traveled to the match.
