Three Minors Arrested for Blackmailing and Morphing Images of Schoolgirl in Krishnagiri
Police in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, have arrested three juvenile boys for blackmailing a 15-year-old schoolgirl by morphing her social media images into obscene photos. The perpetrators, one of whom was the victim's neighbor and a school dropout, created a fake Instagram account to stalk the girl. After downloading her public profile pictures, they digitally altered them to create explicit content. Using these manipulated images, they coerced the terrified victim into sharing private videos of herself. The trio subsequently sent these videos to the girl’s father via WhatsApp, demanding a ransom of ₹10 lakh to prevent further circulation. The victim’s father reported the incident to the All Women Police Station in Krishnagiri. Investigators traced the communication to the main perpetrator, leading to the apprehension of all three minors. They have since been sent to an Observation Home in Salem. This case highlights the severe risks of online stalking, digital image manipulation, and cyber extortion targeting minors, prompting swift legal action by local authorities to protect the victim and hold the juveniles accountable under relevant laws.
