Three arrested with 14,060 painkiller tablets in Chennai
The Greater Chennai Police arrested three individuals in two separate cases for illegally possessing painkiller tablets intended for sale, seizing a total of 14,060 tablets. In the first case, police arrested D. Anand Kumar (43) on July 21 near Elephant Gate, seizing 790 tablets. Further investigation led to the arrest of M.R. Anand Kumar (38) in Madurai district on July 25, with 12,300 tablets including nitrazepam, alprazolam, and clonazepam. In the second case, police arrested Saravanan (20) and Raguram (19) on July 26 in Ashok Nagar, seizing 1,760 tablets including tapentadol and nitrazepam. The two younger suspects had been traveling to Mumbai by train to procure tablets in bulk for sale in Chennai. Saravanan had a prior criminal record. All three accused were arrested and the tablets seized.
