TGS and Ghana Petroleum Commission sign Keta Basin seismic deal
Energy data provider TGS has signed an agreement with Ghana's Petroleum Commission to deliver a new offshore 2D-cubed seismic project in the Keta Basin off the Ghanaian coast. The project aims to create a unified subsurface dataset for one of Africa's significant under-explored regions. The first phase will incorporate 5,500km² of existing 3D seismic data and over 14,700km of 2D surveys to produce a 25,300km² 2D-cubed seismic model spanning the shelf and deepwater portions of the basin. TGS' 2D-cubed process combines older datasets using advanced interpolation to create a seamless 3D dataset for explorers. Final products are expected in Q1 2027. TGS executive David Hajosky highlighted the basin's untapped potential and the project's role in supporting exploration activity across West Africa's Transform Margin.
