Texas Longhorns Secure Commitment from Lithuanian Guard Mantas Laurencikas

Texas Longhorns men's basketball head coach Sean Miller has secured a commitment from 19-year-old Lithuanian guard Mantas Laurencikas. This addition makes Laurencikas the second Lithuanian player on the University of Texas roster, joining compatriot Matas Vokietaitis, who recently impressed during the NCAA Tournament and confirmed his return for the next season. Standing 6-foot-4, Laurencikas brings significant professional experience, having played in Europe since age 15. He currently plays for AS Monaco Basketball in France, where he averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in the most recent season. Additionally, he has represented Lithuania in FIBA competitions for the past four summers. Laurencikas joins a rapidly assembled roster under Miller, which includes recent transfers such as Isaiah Johnson, Mikey Lewis, Amari Evans, David Punch, and Elyjah Freeman. His commitment fills the 14th spot on the Longhorns' roster, leaving only one remaining position. Analysts suggest his professional background in Europe could provide a competitive advantage at the collegiate level in the United States as he enters the upcoming season at age 20.
