Tencent Invests Over ₹10 Crore in India's Gaming and AVGC Sector

Chinese technology giant Tencent has announced a commitment of over Rs 10 crore to support the development of India's gaming and Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sectors. To formalize this initiative, Tencent signed two three-year memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and the Game Developers Association of India (GDAI). The collaboration with SEPC aims to enhance national capacity building and help Indian AVGC companies integrate into international value chains, reinforcing India's status as a global services export hub. Meanwhile, the partnership with GDAI focuses on strengthening the talent pipeline through grassroots engagement, including a National Game Jam for over 10,000 students annually, Train-the-Trainer programs for educators, and participation in the Indian Game Developers Conference. These initiatives encompass curriculum development, industry training, and mentorship. Tencent stated that these structured pathways are designed to accelerate the growth of a globally competitive gaming ecosystem built in India. The company also indicated plans to explore further partnerships with local institutions to offer internships and professional exposure, thereby broadening the impact on the local AVGC ecosystem.
