Cristo Fernández, the Mexican actor renowned for portraying Dani Rojas in the hit Apple TV series 'Ted Lasso,' has realized his lifelong ambition by signing a professional contract with El Paso Locomotive. The 35-year-old joined the USL Championship club, a second-tier team in North America, after successfully completing a two-month trial period. Although Fernández had to abandon his early football aspirations in Guadalajara due to a knee injury, he never relinquished his dream of playing professionally. His transition from acting back to sports was facilitated by strong performances during trials, including a previous session with Chicago Fire's reserve team. El Paso Locomotive head coach Junior Gonzalez highlighted Fernández's passion and leadership as assets that will strengthen the club's positive culture. Fernández expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, noting that football remains central to his identity.
