Sudan's Al-Hilal Omdurman Wins Historic Third League Title in Three Countries

Al-Hilal Omdurman, one of Sudan's most prominent football clubs, has achieved a historic milestone by winning the Rwanda Premier League title. This victory marks the third consecutive league championship for the club in three different countries, having previously won the Mauritanian league in 2025 and domestic titles in Sudan. The team finished the Rwandan campaign with 73 points from 31 matches, demonstrating continued dominance despite being displaced from their home country. This unique situation stems from the civil war that erupted in Sudan in 2023, which caused severe instability and repeated suspensions of the domestic football league. Consequently, Al-Hilal was granted special permission to compete in foreign leagues to maintain competitive activity. Despite these international successes, Confederation of African Football regulations prevent the club from automatically qualifying for the CAF Champions League through victories in Rwanda or Mauritania. As a result, Al-Hilal has returned to Sudan to participate in a local mini-tournament, aiming to secure their place in Africa's premier club competition through domestic performance rather than their unprecedented foreign achievements.
