Staatskapelle Dresden Embarks on European Tour with Chief Conductor Daniele Gatti
The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world's oldest orchestras, has announced a European tour led by chief conductor Daniele Gatti. The tour features two distinct programs and begins with a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s "Messa da Requiem" at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. This opening concert will feature soloists Eleonora Buratto, Elīna Garanča, Benjamin Bernheim, and Riccardo Zanellato, alongside collaborations with choirs such as the Orfeó Català and the Singverein der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna. Following the Barcelona premiere, the orchestra will perform in major cultural hubs including Madrid, Vienna, Essen, Paris, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, and Prague. The second program highlights works by Richard Wagner, Claude Debussy, and Camille Saint-Saëns, featuring cellist Gautier Capuçon, who holds the title of Capell Virtuos with the orchestra this season. The tour is scheduled to conclude on June 4th at the Smetana Hall in Prague. This series of performances continues the orchestra's long-standing tradition of international touring, which dates back to 1915.
