Spain Arrests 13 in Joint Operation Against Georgian-Origin Burglary Ring

Spanish authorities, collaborating closely with the Georgian police attaché, have successfully arrested 13 individuals linked to a sophisticated criminal organization responsible for 27 apartment burglaries across Spain. The investigation, codenamed "CACHABA," was the result of a year-long coordination effort between law enforcement agencies in both countries. The criminal network operated through two distinct branches: one composed of members of "Georgian origin" who executed the physical break-ins, and a Spanish branch tasked with laundering money and disposing of stolen assets through legitimate businesses in Valencia and Madrid. Simultaneous raids were conducted in nine locations, including major cities like Madrid, Valencia, Guadalajara, and Alicante. During the operation, investigators seized significant amounts of illicit goods, including jewelry, luxury watches, gold ingots, cash, and burglary tools. The Spanish Interior Ministry stated that the suspects face charges including membership in a criminal organization, property crimes, document forgery, and resisting authority. Currently, nine of the 13 arrested individuals are in custody and could face prison sentences of up to eight years.
