Sophia Brown Distributes Care Packages to Hurricane-Impacted St. Elizabeth Residents

Jamaican singer Sophia Brown recently returned to her home parish of St. Elizabeth to distribute humanitarian aid to residents still recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa. The category five hurricane, which struck Jamaica on October 28, resulted in 45 deaths and severe damage to infrastructure, homes, and schools across several parishes, with St. Elizabeth being the hardest hit. Through her Angel Of The Hearts Foundation, Brown and her team delivered 85 care packages containing food and essential items to her district of Carisbrook. Additionally, the organization donated supplies to the Marie Atkins Shelter in Kingston. Brown, who had been watching the destruction from overseas, expressed that witnessing the carnage firsthand reinforced her commitment to giving back to her community. The relief effort was supported by donations from Food For The Poor, singer Johnny Osbourne, and Barbara Ellison. This initiative highlights the ongoing recovery efforts and the role of diaspora contributions in aiding post-disaster rehabilitation in Jamaica.
