Sébastien Migné Appointed New Head Coach of Gabon National Football Team
The Gabon National Football Team has officially appointed 53-year-old Frenchman Sébastien Migné as its new head coach, as announced on July 17. Migné recently left his position as head coach of the Haiti National Team after leading them to the World Cup finals, where Haiti failed to earn any points. The Gabon Football Federation initially delayed the announcement due to contractual terms with Migné's former employer, but he quickly obtained his release letter and finalized negotiations. Federation President Pierre-Alain Mounguengui will face the media alone in Owendo to explain the selection. Migné, 54, is well-versed in African football, having served as an assistant coach to Jean-Pierre Papin and Claude Le Roy, with coaching stints in Strasbourg, Lens, Oman, DR Congo, Congo (Brazzaville), Togo, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, and Cameroon. He began his independent head coaching career in 2017 with the Congo National Team and became Haiti's head coach in March 2024.
