Scholes: Tuchel Deliberately Avoided Using Mainoo, England Players Will Be Furious
Former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Scholes has criticized England manager Thomas Tuchel for his handling of the World Cup squad, particularly the exclusion of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. Speaking on a show, Scholes claimed Mainoo and several other players will be furious with Tuchel after England's semi-final loss to Argentina. England led 1-0 in the 55th minute but adopted ultra-conservative tactics, conceding two late goals to Enzo and Lautaro. Mainoo did not play a single minute in the entire tournament, despite the team needing a player to hold the ball and control tempo. Scholes and fellow former player Nicky Butt both stated that Tuchel has lost the support of many players in the dressing room. Scholes also argued that England's individual players are stronger than Spain's, but the team lacks cohesion and has too many selfish players.
