Samsung details features of its smart glasses as it enters market dominated by Meta
Samsung has detailed the features of its upcoming smart glasses at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London, marking its first major challenge to Meta in the smart eyewear market. The glasses include a built-in camera for capturing video and reading content from whiteboards, as well as the ability to summarize smartphone messages via built-in speakers. Samsung is testing gesture controls using its smartwatches and Galaxy Ring. The device uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 chip and requires a smartphone connection. Samsung has not disclosed pricing but positions the glasses as a premium product, with more designs and colors expected at launch this fall. Meta currently dominates the market with a 69.2% share in Q1 2026, and analysts caution that Samsung must deliver compelling everyday use cases to succeed beyond its smartphone base.
