Samsung Begins Mass Production of VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 Laptop OLED Panels
Samsung Display has announced the mass production of its first VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400-certified tandem OLED panels for laptops. The new standard, introduced earlier this month, requires peak brightness of 1,400 nits at 10% OPR and black levels below 0.0005 nits. Samsung's panels achieve up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, a 40% improvement over conventional single-layer OLEDs. The tandem OLED architecture stacks two organic emissive layers, improving efficiency and lifespan. Lenovo's Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition is the first laptop to feature the panel, with devices from Asus, Dell, and MSI expected in the second half of 2025. LG Display is also preparing to compete in this premium segment.
