Samsung Begins Mass Production of VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 Laptop Displays
Samsung Display has announced the mass production of its first VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certified tandem OLED panels for laptops. The new standard, introduced earlier this month, requires peak brightness of at least 1,400 nits at 10% On Pixel Ratio, with Samsung's panels achieving up to 1,600 nits — a 40% increase over conventional single-layer OLEDs. The tandem OLED architecture stacks two organic emissive layers, improving efficiency, brightness, and lifespan while reducing power load at modest brightness levels. Major laptop makers including Lenovo, Asus, Dell, and MSI will integrate these panels. Lenovo's Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition is the first device to feature the new display, with other models expected in the second half of 2025. LG Display is also preparing to compete in this premium segment.
