Rosatom CEO: Russia Holds 40 Foreign NPP Contracts, Plans 40 Domestic Reactors

Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom, announced that the company currently holds approximately 40 contracts for the construction of nuclear power plant units abroad. In a recent interview with Vesti, Likhachev highlighted that Russia simultaneously needs to build about 40 reactors domestically to meet internal energy demands. He emphasized Rosatom's strengthened competitiveness and momentum in international markets. Currently, Russian companies are constructing 26 high-capacity and two small-capacity power units in various countries. Likhachev also referenced new agreements for nuclear plant construction in Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Rwanda. This dual focus on domestic infrastructure development and extensive international export projects underscores Russia's strategic position in the global nuclear energy sector.
