Rosario Brothers Flee After Shooting at Gendarme During Drug Plane Raid
Argentine federal authorities are hunting for Santiago Emmanuel and Juan Cruz Borras, two brothers from Rosario implicated in international drug trafficking. The suspects escaped a law enforcement operation in Villa Eloísa, Santa Fe, after a plane carrying 321 kilograms of cocaine landed forcibly. During their flight, the brothers opened fire on National Gendarmerie agents and ran over one officer, who was hospitalized with head injuries but is out of danger. Two Bolivian pilots were arrested nearby. The investigation, led by the Narcocrime Prosecutor's Office and Judge Eduardo Rodríguez De Cruz, linked the Borras brothers to a previous incident in Arequito involving 60 kilos of cocaine. Unlike local drug lord Brian Bilbao, the brothers operate an independent logistics network connecting Bolivian producers to European markets via Buenos Aires ports. This raid follows a major seizure of 400 kilos of cocaine in Vera just one week prior. Health centers in the region have been alerted to monitor for injured fugitives as searches continue in surrounding towns.
