Robert Jenrick branded liar and fraud after deleting doctored audio tweet about Labour MP Jo White
Reform UK Shadow Chancellor Robert Jenrick has been accused of spreading disinformation after posting a doctored audio clip that misrepresented Labour MP Jo White's comments on immigration. Jenrick's tweet falsely claimed White said 'I don't care if we stop the boats' regarding asylum seekers crossing the English Channel. White, recently appointed immigration minister by Prime Minister Andy Burnham, released the full audio proving she actually said: 'My focus is to make sure that we stop those boats. I don't care who will stop the boats. My number one priority is to stop those boats.' White's husband and predecessor John Mann called Jenrick 'a liar and a fraud,' stating Jenrick knew the quote was fabricated for a year. Both Jenrick and Reform UK deleted the offending tweets. Jenrick has been contacted for comment.
